Popular two-piece pyjama sets are available in almost all material and design combinations. When choosing your pyjamas, keep in mind that the materials also serve a specific purpose. Whether pyjamas are comfy and cozie or sleek and sexy, patterned or monochrome, there are no limits to your design and colours.
There are two distinguishable classes of materials for nightwear: natural and synthetic.
Check out the different types of nightwear material you can buy today, along with the characteristics which will help you get a great night?s sleep!
Natural substances
Satin/Silk: Satin and silk are widely used fabrics for pyjamas because they are airy and light and are therefore particularly appreciated in the hot summer.
Cotton: This popular material for nightwear is breathable and absorbs moisture well, which is why it is best suited for lukewarm nights.
Jersey: This special knitted fabric is also very popular as a pyjama fabric, because it is elastic and lightweight, breathable, with slight heat retention.
Terry cloth/Nicki: The cuddly fabric is very soft, with a comfortable fit and good heat retention for cool nights.
Flannel: Flannel is the classic among pyjama fabrics. It is particularly cuddly and ideal for the transitional period.
Merino wool: The wool of merino sheep is extremely soft. In addition, the natural product has independent climate management properties. This property makes it possible to warm in the cold and cool in the heat. Anyone who is familiar with wool knows that the material is very multifunctional because merino wool is breathable, odour-neutralising and moisture-regulating.
In summary, natural materials are very skin-friendly, cuddly and especially popular when the temperatures go down.
Synthetic fabrics
Polyester: Of all synthetic fabrics, polyester is most commonly used for pyjamas. It is elastic and breathable.
Polyacrylic: Polyacrylic promotes a natural sleeping climate and is therefore also a popular material for pyjamas.
Fleece/Microfleece: This material is especially popular in winter because it is very soft and keeps the body chubby warm at night. In addition, the fabric dries quickly and is extremely hard-wearing.
Polyamide: Like fleece fabrics, a fabric made of polyamide also dries particularly quickly and is characterised by high elasticity.
Artificial substances are particularly recommended for people who sweat a lot because they are easy to care for and dry quickly. In order to guarantee optimal skin compatibility, you should rely on well-known manufacturers.
Which pyjamas at what time of year?
Spring When the nights are warmer again, jersey pyjamas are ideal because they are elastic and breathable. However, the greatest peculiarity of the material is its heat storage. Depending on whether you are still cold or not, you can buy the pyjamas with long sleeves and long trousers or in the short version with T-shirt.
Summer In the hot season, you should choose pyjamas that are short and light. Materials such as satin, silk and light cotton are best suited for this. Synthetic fabrics such as polyester are also very breathable and especially suitable for absorbing liquids and drying them quickly. Keep in mind that you change your pyjamas particularly often in the summer.
Autumn The days are getting shorter and the pyjamas longer. As in spring, the jersey is the main material in autumn. Are you still freezing? Then try pyjamas made of terry cloth or Nicki. They are very soft and comfortable to wear and have better heat storage than jersey.
Winter When it gets really cold, only fluffy warm pyjamas will help. There is an abundance of different fabrics and textiles that are comfortable to wear and keep you warm in the cold season. Flannel, Molton and merino wool are particularly chubby here. Of course, the pyjamas should have long legs and sleeves. Cuddly socks complete the cosy outfit.
